Working at Samford

Purpose

The orientation and training committee assigns mentors and provides materials to new library employees. Mentors serve as a general welcoming committee from the rest of the library and act as a resource where new employees can ask questions outside their department. The committee assists mentors in this process by assigning mentors from those current employees willing to participate, creating welcome packets with important information about the library, Samford and the Birmingham area, creating checklists for mentors and unit coordinators to go over with new employees as well as addressing any concerns that library faculty and staff may have about the orientation of new library employees.
